This is a key strategic leadership role within the Council: joining the executive management team and taking lead responsibility for the People priorities as set out within our emerging Corporate Plan.

As the largest provider of social rented properties in the district the Council plays an essential part in the social and economic wellbeing of our community. And alongside the wider strategic housing agenda that includes homelessness, building new homes and the associated infrastructure essential to successful communities, we recognise the importance of this role’s contribution. The New Forest district is a highly desirable place to live and offers much to its residents. But it’s also a place of great diversity and inequality. Many of our residents face financial challenges that have been exacerbated by stark increases in the cost of living. It’s vital that we can support all in our community to live in good quality, affordable homes. We understand how this basic need is a vital foundation to achievement and wellbeing in other areas of people’s lives.

With council commitment and the Leader and myself championing these priorities there’s never been a more exciting or more transformative time to join New Forest District Council; from moving forward with a local plan, significant initiatives around infrastructure, our green agenda, supporting the delivery of the Solent Freeport, pro-actively delivering town centre regeneration, and delivering economic development that works for our unique place.
